In the Indonesian archipelago (The Spice Islands), form the early time of Arab traders in 500 AD to the Dutch East Indian company 1600s to the enriched flavored cuisines used today, the spice has had an irresistible lure that has contributed to the history of the world.
Indonesia lies just south of the equator smack in the middle of the tropics, the humid climate deep ocean currents and volcanic heights of up to 4000 feet above sea level allow mother nature to create some of the most beautiful ingredients on the planet.
In this day’s session we have dug up south Asia’s archives to bring you a new world of treasures, you will learn how to identify, sense, and prepare all their gorgeous wonders.
LEARN TO COOK TRADITIONAL INDONESIAN DISHES
The Cooking School is conducted in Sanur. With us you will learn to cook traditional Indonesian dishes by your hosts will guide you step by step.
The program starts with our chef taking you on a short trip to the local village market, this is an experience by itself and here we will purchase all the fresh produce you will need for each dish. Then it is back to our cooking school and on with the aprons.
Throughout the morning you will be sampling each course as it is freshly cooked, in this way you get to try each dish as it retains it’s freshness, taste and smell of herbs & spices. The whole morning is a procession of cooking and eating, so please don’t plan on going to lunch afterward.
Group sizes are limited to ensure individual tutoring and the school is busy so it is always advisable to book well ahead.
The day starts at 6.30 am when we pick you up from your hotel and usually concludes at around 12 noon by the pool with a cool drink or two before being transferred back to your hotel.
