CYCLING TOURS
Sanur’s splendid paved beachfront cycle-pathway stretches some 5 kilometers from the Mertasari area in Southern Sanur, north to the main beach at Jalan Hang Tuah.
This makes for a lovely scenic bike ride, especially in the cool of the early morning. The village name Sanur originates from two words, “Saha” and “Nuhur” which rally means the passion to visit a certain place.
Located in the southern part of Bali, Sanur is famed for its beautiful strip of sandy beaches it’s spectacular sunrises which really mark a new day in the life of the Balinese.
A laid-back atmosphere is what is so unique about the village of Sanur where hospitality is intertwined with the traditions of Balinese culture and religion.
The atmosphere from sunrise till sunset provides endless opportunities of discovery into the daily lives of the Balinese, where each corner of the village provides a certain exploration for every visitor. Lines of shady trees along the roads, a beautiful stretch of beaches for sunbathing and swimming, a strip of shops and markets and a variety of restaurants and bars for wining and dining, the option is endless in Sanur.
Sunrise Tour | Start Time 6:00am : (hotel pick-up 5:50am) (Inna Bali Beach Hotel area)
This tour is designed to meet the desires of all the early risers and photographers amongst you. You will be picked up from your accommodation at around 05:50 and taken to Sindu Guest house where we begin your tour.
Our guide will take you north up along the beach to Padang Galak to begin a relaxing slow paced ride along the whole Sanur beach strip. A bottle of water, face cloth and some fruit or a light breakfast will be provided. We will ride south from here along the paved beach path, stopping anywhere along the way to enjoy the sunrise and take photos.
On a clear morning, Nusa Lembongan and Mount Agung can be seen from this route. You are also able to swim anywhere along Sindhu/Karang/Sanur/ Semawang beaches so don’t forget your bathers and a towel if you would like this. We will also see the local fishermen casting their nets and fishing for bait and dive operators getting ready for their daily activities. There are several early morning warungs that open early, where you can try the local Bali coffee, Nescafe or tea and sit on the beach to enjoy it or mingle with the local fishermen and share stories.
We’ll then venture further down the beach to Mertasari beach where the local children and adults fly their kites from May to September. There is a Kite flying competition held in September or October each year here depending on the winds. At the end of this 7km path, we will come to Pura Dalam Pangembak.
On our way back north along the beach we can stop at a small café (Sweet Magnolia) and enjoy breakfast or a coffee or we can wait until our journey is nearly complete and visit The Kalimantan restaurant ( Borneo Bob’s), which has been an icon of Sanur since the 80’s and serves good juices and breakfasts. After this we will return the bicycles and arrange to take you back to your accommodation. The rest of the day is yours to relax or enjoy other parts of Sanur.

Morning Tour | Start Time 7:00am : (hotel pick-up at 6:50am)
Starting from Jalan Pantai Sindu our local guide Putu and or Komang will lead you east to Sindu beach. From there you ride South via the paved path, approximately 5 km, to Mertasari Beach .We then turn west and ride up a quiet road then turn into a quieter gang (path) on the Southside of Sanur. We then venture across Bypass Ngurah Rai at the traffic lights where you will ride west through a quiet road into the green area of Sanur, riding along a small biking path beside a canal which is used for recycling water to and from the rice fields and see the local people going about their morning activities tending to the rice and growing flowers and fruit.
He will then take you north along quiet back roads to “Pasar Intaran” (Intaren local Market) where he will guide you through the stalls and you can try some local fruit and delicacies and explain how the local Balinese shop and obtain their produce. ( This is where Komang was brought up and lives so you will see many of the people here know him so he can explain the life here or translate for you if need be).
From here you will ride to Renon area and visit a flower and orchid nursery. Next, you will cycle back toward Sanur along some more quiet paths and roads and visit a rice field restaurant to enjoy the views and eat your prepared light breakfast which includes some fruit, muesli bar, local delicacies bottle of water and a fresh cool towel.
From here we venture back through some rice fields again and visit a local expats famed Beatles Museum filled with a lifetime collection of “The Beatles” memorabilia including 2 gold records of “Strawberry Fields” & John Lennon’s Imagine!
We then venture back to our starting point where the tour will end and you will be transferred back to your accommodation. You then have the remainder of the day to enjoy Sanur or relax on the beach or beside your pool. The route gives you the opportunity to see the real Sanur, mixing beach and countryside. The whole tour will take approximately 3 hours and you will cover around 15 km.

Jurassic Park ( Taman Festival) Tour | Start Time 6:00am : (hotel pick-up at 5:50am)
Taman Festival Bali is a old amusement park complex in Sanur it was developed on large site at the end of Jl.Pandang Galak right on the beach front. It had a 3D Theatre, wild life water area, restaurants, along with a volcano erupting nightly and a laser show.
The park closed due to economic issues in 2000 and has been abandoned ever since. Unfortunately also abandoned when the park closed was a pit full of crocodiles and turtles, that were eventually rescued. You can still visit the amusement park, it is interesting to see the slow ruining of the buildings, statues, theatre, eating areas and that the jungle/plants are slowly taking over.
The local name for the abandoned amusement park is “Ghost Town” For the keen photographers there are some great photo shot opportunities and for those interested in the past the abandoned park is worth a visit. Hati Hati, is Indonesian for, be careful, due to the broken glass, open pits and the collapsing roofs etc. You need to be CAREFUL! Oh! Yes the ticket boxes are still there but there’s no entry fee! The park is in Sanur, a little North of the main tourist area situated at Pantai Padak Galak Sanur, on JL. Pandang Galak off Jl. By Pass Ngurah. The old amusement park is certainly worth a visit.
This tour is for riders who like a bit of adventure in their day. We will begin at 06:15 am from our starting point. Riders will be picked up at 05:55am from their accommodation. From our start point we will begin by riding north along the Sanur beach path. We come off of this path and track down a small gang which brings us to a large shady car park, from here we continue up the beach for several km until we reach the area known as Padang Galak where we see the Ghost Town of Taman Festival in front of us. Your guide will lead you to the east side of the park where you will ride through a gate and begin on a path that leads us through and around this derelict amusement park.
You guide being from Sanur will explain the history of this place and why it is now Sanur’s Ghost Town. You will ride around here and up the hill to which was the man made volcano. At any time you can stop to take photographs of just walk around the ruins of Taman Festival trying to get a feeling of how it once was and how it would be if operating now. There were plans to build a roller coaster and water park here as well which never eventuated due to the closure of the park.
We recommend that you wear sports shoes for this ride as there are areas where you must get off your bicycle and venture around to take some amazing photographs. You won’t be disappointed with this tour. After exploring this park we ride back down a quiet road and back on the beach path where we sit and enjoy breakfast whilst looking out toward Lembongan Island. After breakfast we take the short ride back along the beach to our starting point where you will be dropped back to your accommodation, where the rest of the day is yours to enjoy.

Afternoon Tour | Start Time 04:00pm : (hotel pick-up 03.50pm)
You will be picked up from your accommodation at around 15:55 pm and taken to Sindu Guest house where we begin your tour. Our local guide will lead you down to Sindu beach where you will enjoy riding along the 5 km of beach path up until you get to Mertasari beach. You will then turn west and ride into the outskirts of Sanur where you will visit “The Man Shed.” Which is an old car & motorcycle museum and bar where you can stop for a cool drink if need be or just view the items on display. We then ride through beautiful rice fields and see the local people going about their activities.
Next, you will ride through some of the quiet local back roads and visit a local beer garden. “The Sanur Garage.” This is a local Harley Davidson workshop and showroom. Here there is also a display of modified Harley’s and touring bikes that belong to some local Harley enthusiasts. We will make a pit stop at “The “Cavern bar” for a cold soft drink or purchase one of the coldest beers in Sanur as well. Or become a lifelong member of this establishment receiving your personalised member card. Cost of this is (30,000rp which includes a beer or soft drink). This bar boasts the largest private collection of Beatles memorabilia in South Asia, including two gold records from both The Beatles and John Lennon.
He will then take you east back toward the beach where you can visit the night markets where he will guide you through the stalls and you can try some local fruit and delicacies and see how the local Balinese shop and obtain their produce before returning to Sindu guest house” where your tour will complete. Where your tour will end and we will arrange to take you back to your accommodation.
This Afternoon tour includes a 2 1/2 hour tour, experienced local guide hotel transfers, water, cool face towel and a light snack pack is also packed for you. The route also gives you the opportunity to see the real Sanur, mixing beach, countryside and some local hang outs. The whole tour will take approximately 2 and half hours and you will cover around 15 km.

Tegenungan Waterfall
Once we arrive at the falls you can decide to have a cool drink & or breakfast is one of the café’s on top of the falls or venture down to the swimming areas under the waterfall. You can spend some hours here swimming and cooling off from your ride. After this you can either take a light lunch or a quiet drink at the top? Then we begin the cycle ride back to Sanur arriving there around 2 to 3 hours after leaving Tegenugan taking a different route back.
Do not forget to include your swimmers & towel!

UBUD TOUR
Visitors to Bali always enjoy hanging out in Ubud for a day or more.
CBC Cycle Tours now offers rides which allow you to do this. There are three tour options:
Tour 1
Full day cycling tour to Ubud and Bukit Campuan & return by bicycle. As the previous tour but after breakfast and a tour around Ubud village, we take another route to Bukit Campuan ridge and stop at Kanda Cafe then cycle back to Sanur via another route, exploring some local villages etc. We plan to arrive in Sanur around 2:30pm.
Cost: – Rp 1,150,000 per person all-inclusive.
Tour 2
Cycle to Ubud and return by car (half day Tour).
Depart Sanur between 05:30 – 06:00.
Take a leisurely 3-hour ride to Ubud via small serviced roads and local rice fields. Riding up through these rice paddies you will get to see how the local people farm and go about their daily life. You will also experience some stunning views of Mount Agung & Mount Batur. Breakfast at a well-known Ubud Café – “Juice ja Café”.
After breakfast around 10:30 am the bicycles are loaded onto a pick up to return them to Sanur, leaving you free to explore Ubud for an hour or 2.
Depart Ubud 12noon for drive back to Sanur arriving back around 1pm.

If you should like to cycle to Ubud 1 way and stay there. We able to accommodate this ride for you as well. We leave at the same time to beat the heat of the day. Once you arrive in Ubud we stop at Juice ja Cafe where we have breakfast. After this we arrange to bring our bicycles back to Sanur. You are then free to go your own way and explore Ubud or find your accommodation if you are planning to stay. We will take your luggage to Ubud and assist you in getting to your accommodation.

Cycle & Cooking Class Tour | Start Time 6:15am: – (hotel pick-up 6:00am)
Starting from our shop on Jl Batur Sari. One of our local guides will lead you south until we reach the rice or melon fields. We then cycle through the maze of rice fields, small streets & gangs until you reach Intaran traditional markets. We cycle through here. So you will see how bustling this market becomes in the early morning.
Our guide will then take you cycling down some back streets until we reach Jl Berata. We will then visit “Booster Coffee”for a morning coffee & you can enjoy your local snacks that are included in your tour before, we continue to Grand Bali beach. From there you ride south via the paved path to Sindhu beach approximately 1 km. We then leave the beach path & cycle to Sindhu morning market where you meet the people from your cooking school. They, together with your cycle guide will take you on a guided tour of this market where you will purchase the ingredients for your class. These will be taken there whilst you will then continue to cycle the full length of the beach to Mertasari Beach. You will then cycle to “Bamboo Shoots” where you will stop to join your cooking class. At around 1 pm after your cooking class & lunch. You can either be taken back to your accommodation by car or cycle back to Sanur Cycle Tours via, small paths & rice fields. With this tour you will get to see the best Sanur has to offer including quiet back streets, beachfront, rice fields & the real Balinese culture and the best cooking school in Sanur.
The whole tour including your cooking class will take approximately 6 hours and you will cover around 18 km.
